The 2026 round took applications from 10 February to 20 March, and 144 companies were selected in May. The next round is usually announced early in the year, so it is safer to start preparing in December or January.
A regional program funded by Gyeonggi Province and its cities and counties. Only manufacturers with a site in Gyeonggi are eligible; the call usually opens early in the year and selection ends in the first half.

A region-specific program that Gyeonggi Province runs through Gyeonggi Technopark (Gyeonggi Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center). It has its own budget, separate from national programs, and targets SMEs and mid-sized manufacturers with a site in Gyeonggi.
It is structured in stages: a basic build for collecting production data and improving process efficiency, an ESG track focused on carbon reduction and accident prevention, and a manufacturing AI first step, each with on-site coaching.
In 2026, 483 companies applied for a KRW 9.3 billion budget and 144 were selected, a ratio of about 3.35 to 1. Because it is competitive, a concrete plan matters.

The overall flow is the same whatever the type.
Start with the current year's call: the funding cap, cost-share ratio, eligibility and application window. Requirements differ by type, so read the call for that specific type rather than the combined announcement.
Decide what to build and prepare the business plan with your supplier. Survey equipment communication and the signals you can collect at this stage, or the plan will not be realistic.
Applications go through the smart factory programme portal. The adopting company is the applicant; for consortium types, both the company's and the supplier's details are required.
After evaluation and selection you sign an agreement and start the build. Changes outside the agreed scope need a separate procedure, so it is better to fix the scope at the planning stage.
The build is inspected and project costs are settled. Improvements and upgrades needed in operation continue in later stages.

With the information below, writing the plan goes faster.
It is based on the site where the build happens, not the head office address. Companies elsewhere should check their own region's program or the government type.
With a call in February and a deadline in March, you have little more than a month for the equipment survey and the plan. Setting the scope at the end of the previous year lets you move as soon as the call opens.
The right program depends on your situation.
The basic type: companies apply directly, with no lead organization. You set the build scope yourself, so the quality of the business plan largely decides selection and results.…
Win-Win TypeA lead organization such as a large company or public institution contributes funds and the government adds part of the build cost. The company share is usually the lowest, but not everyone can apply, so check the route first…
Manufacturing AIIt is an AI program, but what really decides the outcome is data. Without accumulated process data, no AI has anything to learn from, which is why data collection and validation is a separate stage…
Smart ServiceIf smart factories cover manufacturing processes, Smart Service covers service delivery. Adopting companies and suppliers apply together as a consortium.…

What companies most often check at the review stage.
The 2026 round closed on 20 March and selection ended in May. Check Gyeonggi Technopark's notices for the next round, and start preparing early.
Restrictions on duplicate support are stated in each year's call. Receiving two programs for the same build at once is generally restricted, so check the duplicate-support clause in the call.
It is the stage within the Gyeonggi program that supports adopting manufacturing AI, up to KRW 100 million as of 2026. AI only works once data exists, so we recommend also reviewing the manufacturing AI conditions.
The ratio was about 3.35 to 1 in 2026. The more concrete you are about what you will connect and what you will build, the better. Surveying each machine's communication method and available signals in advance makes the plan concrete.
A build focused on carbon reduction and accident prevention. It covers measurable indicators, such as metering energy use or monitoring equipment safety status.
